Wj Diesel conversion ?

Hi All, i have a 4.7 WJ at the moment and the engine has a ticking sound was going to rebuild, but have the chance to grab a Wrecked wj Diesel 2.7. Has only 83,000 on the clock motor still runs and runs well, have heard it running. How hard would the conversion be ?

Anyone done it before.

Along with the engine you need the transmission, ecu, tcu, wiring, radiator stack, a/c hoses, transmission crossmember, driveshafts, shifter assembly, instrument cluster, axles, fuel cooler, airbox, battery box. That's all I can think of for now

Is it ticking all the time or just at startup? Is it a tick or a knock? Where does the sound seem to be coming from?
Why think a out diesel, the v8 is much better

Ticking sound is there on cold start and when the revs hit about 3k, not sure where it is coming from but sounds like lifters ?

Could be loose headers.

Mudmonster has gone the opposite way with an XJ. Its doable. Need the 2 cars next to each other so you can grab what ever you need off the wreak. You have many petrol heads telling you to stick with a V8 but once you have a diesel you will understand why we oil burners like what we have.
