can yougo back from 16" to 15" on crd kjs? would make tyre choice cheaper wouldnt it?
i guess i just got new tyres so pointless but white steelies would like more rugged on the kj than those city alloys i reckon

Yeah,
Can ya go to 15" on a V6 Cherokee also?? Can ya can ya?:D
According to some tyre calculators 235/75r15 is the size that matches the 235/70r16 stockers.

Yes you can go either way, but it's not as simple as just bolting them on. You need to get the right backspacing so that they clear the brake calipers, and don't stick out to much. You will also probably need to bash your pinch weld down to make more room. The overall diameter of a 245/75/16 is roughly the same as a 31inch tall 15. The advantage is more sidewall for better offroad performance, but you are putting a much heavier wheel/tyre combo on, so this in itself has issues such as wear, and fuel economy, plus you will probably loose articulation, and have to fit bigger bumpstops....you don't get something for nothing. Having played around with a few sets of wheels myself, I am happy to go back to the stock alloys.......just my thoughts.

King rims are available from any tyre power outlet. As they are a non standard item do not ask for king rims suitable for a jeep cherokee as there are none. You need to ask for 15" zero offset 5 on 114.5 PCD stud pattern.

This will give you a wider track. and fits a 30" tyre with some minor scrubbing when turning in reverse on the plastic at the front of the wheel well. anything bigger and you need to pound the pinch weld and cut the front bumper. off course if you have bull bar the issues with the bumper go away.

I have a set of white rims for off roading and KJ renegade has black rims. There should be photos in the KJ section somewhere.
