Drivers Side Footwell Full of Water
 

after constant rain here over the past 24 hours, I knock off from work to find the drivers side foot well full of water. had to remove the rubber grommet in the floor to drain it

I'm aware of a post mentioning the passenger side filling up with water due to a blocked drain but has any one come across same for the drivers side and found a fix?

still raining outside so will leave until the weather clears up

Hard top or soft top, Mine leaks depending on the angle I park it on leaks between the corner of the hard top and the windscreen frame if the front is pointing down and water tracks to the front of the car from the roof when it rains. I live in Darwin so I experience rain. Try parking on different angle to narrow down the possible areas it could leak. When I was in the workshop we used to hose the cars down with someone sitting inside to try and spot the leaks.

you maybe on the money, was parked with the nose pointing down slightly and with the car tilted to the left

removed the scuttle and had a look at the drain beneath. all clear no debris, leaves, twigs, dead and dried up lizards, frogs or anything else that could cause water to overflow into the cab

must be from the windscreen and door frame area as RPG said

Did the same when hunting for the leaks. Removed the wiper arms and plenum chamber cover, cleaned it out and resealed the plastic cover for the fresh air intake. Had a mate serval years back that striped out all the flooring in his Suzuki sierra, coated all the floor wells in under body sealer and installed a kitchen sink plug on each side. After water crossings just pulled them out, a quick drain and then off again. Big tick for practical and common sense. At the 4X4 show on the weekend I spoke to the guy selling Rhino lining and asked if they could do foot wells. He said they had not done any but couldn't see why not. As I only use the TJ for bush work I think this may be the way to go. Get rid of the carpet and just go with Rhino lining and moulded sand grabber mats. After heavy rain or big water crossings just pop the rubber grommets. The Rhino lining also acts as a heat shield according to bloke selling it. Anyway something else to think about.

My TJ did the same. My carport driveway is nose down and it always filled up. Mine was a soft top with half doors.

I didn't bother with carpet in the front, just ran deep rubber mats.

I'd check under the carpet in the back too, mine was leaking from the back door, flowing through and filling up the front footwells.
