Infinity sound system?

Would anyone know if theres instructions available anywhere on how this system works? Hell I dont even know where the amp is lol. I've just stuck CD's in and let them play and its been many years since I owned amps and woofers and was wondering if it all just cuts in and works or theres buttons I have to press  Dont laugh :p

mate i assume you've bought the jk renegade pack with the hard top and infinity sound system. if so in your folder that csam with the vehicle you should find an owner's handbook, a service booklet and a white covered booklet for iperating the various sound systems in the jk. the infinity setup is listed there. as for the amp, if you look into that horizontal slot right under the steering wheel you will see a silver metal box with fins on it. that is the amp. good luck with the instructions. if the booklet is not in your owner's folder see the dealer and get one. cheers dave

Yep David, thats the one I bought. I have been through the manual and besides the standard system talk and a bit of info on the 6 CD changer theres no info about the amp or woofer at all.

The horizontal slot thing you talk about..well theres a small handle like/gap but hard to see anything down in there. Very dark even with a torch lol. Would have to pull it apart to be sure its there.

Most of all just wanting to know, if these days are the amp/woofer supposed to just cut in and work when you play a CD or not? After all I remember pushing a button on the amp..ok..showing my age now......

Amp is on all the time, providing power to all speakers. Amp is located underneath the steering wheel column. The amp is half decent, problem is with the equalizer in the head unit. A lot of JK's when they came out, had the wrong software on the ECU for the amp - and the result was a lot of crackling/popping in the speakers - a TSB came out with a flash update that fixed it (i had this problem).

In general, you need to turn the treble fairly high - and keep the bass in the lower scale to get a nice balanced sound. Once you've done that it's quite a nice system. You do need the volume up fairly high to get any real power from the amp.

Thanks Mojotec..that makes things a lot clearer ty very much. This crackling/popping you speak of..I cant say my problem is the same but when I listen to FM radio I hear some quiet static..its almost sounds like someone talking on a UHF or I'm getting a little of another radio station interfering. I seem to recall hearing it on accelleration and whilst in top gear but it dissapears while changing down gears and braking to come to a stop. Does this sound anything familiar to what you had happen?

Get a woolly one up ya Kit! As for the windscreen nope, it got too dark once I got the jeep back from the dealership to bother. Now get out of JK land and go mind your own TJ business! ;p
