Power steer pump failure

I have a friend who recently bought a JK it’s only done 20k running 35” tyres he has done the pump 2 months ago and today has reported power steering fluid leaked everywhere assuming it’s gone again, is anyone experiencing pump failures.

In the time I owned a JK I had no issues with my pump not sure why his is failing so many times, also it’s more daily driver than off-road.

One thing he hasn’t done yet is adjust tyre size with the OBD, but can’t see that causing the issue.

Mine has done 210k km, still original pump, most of that on 35's and never had an easy life. He obviously has something going on down there. How has the pump failed, bearings? Maybe there is a faulty steering box putting metal swarf through the system? The odometer setting has no relevance to the steering at all.

I might look at his steering dampener and also see exactly where it is leaking.
