ATF+4 substitute fluid I'm about to change fluids in tranny and gearbox. Anyone knows what fluid to use instead of Mopar ATF+4?

both castrol and penrite do a replacement for atf +4. i use castrol. works fine. no problems or breakdowns. both companies market it as atf replacement product and their tech support people say it is fine, and is what it was intended for. check their websites. i have a manual and use it in the transfer case. if you're concerned about your auto trans and want to stick with atf+4 then valvolene do an atf+4. cheers. castrol website u[date shows castrol transmax atf+4 auto trans oil.

For transmission, gearbox and tcase I strongly recommned to stick to mopar fluids they are tested and proven.

mate, even the dealers don't use mopar products. they deal direct with an oil company and buy product in bulk drums at the best price available. the idea that dealers use mopar stuff in their services is a misconception. aftermarket or "other brand" products are just fine. the dealers use them.

Especially ATF+4 for transmission and gear box etc I have seen people using more expensive or alternative cheap oils and seals start leaking. Everyone has their own choice but i will not use other oils especially transmission and gear box |
it's true with some chrysler recommendations i.e. to use only synchromesh oil in the nsg370.
on the other hand chrysler recommends to change the timing belt on crd at 200K, that, if you do follow, most likely to kill the engine. chrysler's advise on crd engine oils in owner manuals is somewhat confusing as if vm motori and chrysler never talked. go figure. |
