Super Chargers

So i'm asking the question, has anyone fitted a supercharger to their 3.8 petrol Jk. If so what performance gains did you get, also fuel figures.
Reason being I own a 2.8 crd that I tow my Jayco camper with and i'd like more power. Ha, who doesn't. So I thinking of selling the diesel JK and mayb buying a petrol version and charging it. I know it's been done before, I just don't know anyone who has. I love my Jeep and really want to stay with the brand, not neccesarily with the model. Even thought about a v8 Grand, have having owned a ZJ before. Should have kept that 1 and put a v8 in it.

Any suggestions or advice would be good. Thanks.

If you want a petrol JK get the 3.6 not the 3.8, we had a crd auto jk and used it for towing, I now tow with a WH grand with a 5.7 and wouldn't go back.

Buy a 3.6 if you want a petrol. Don't bother trying to supercharge a 3.8. You be much better off tuning your crd. It will go very well with a few modest mods.

Yeah. I have the 3.8L. It's a dinosaur. Don't even think about it.
Also, unless you are an enthusiest with lots of cash, I wouldn't think about re powering it either.
Better off buying the vehicle to do the job in the first place. Unfortunately, the Wrangler of any type is not a great towing machine, not yet anyhow.
I love my JK but I only tow a very small trailer. It is used more as a bush basher than anything else so it suits me, 3.8 and all. But if I was towing van or boat........?

A mate has a sprintex on his 3.6L penstar manual. absolutely hammers, towed a jayco swan to fraser and back over to the western side with me last year with ease.

Kit cost him about 6k for memory and he fitted it all himself.

I've got an auto 3.6 and it has a lot of power. tow a 1900kg speed boat easily up and down hills.

I have had it dynoed and tuned, it now gets around 350nm torque at the wheels. The problem being when you push it the pyro goes up too high for my liking, without the camper its great.

Ripp

I've had a RIPP supercharger in my 2009 3.8 for about three months now. Was looking at a V8 conversation but all the kits are for LHD and I'd lose too much dash function to go LS etc

Dyno'd before and after about 50% more hp and torque.

Certainly feels different to drive, more urgent and heaps better on road, up hills etc

Had to have a custom air box made up to plumb my Safari snorkel in.

Saves a couple of l/100km when cruising but sucks more when you put your foot down.
