Come and live in NZ where a 4x4 that age would have a saftey check every 6 months, and any serious defects mabey would be picked up. The more hard 4x4ing you do the more stress you put on the parts, the more often you should check your drive train, and associated parts.

But this is in his Sigma mate.
Hang in there Bruggs. Shite happens to all of us. For me it usually happens in threes

Gday mate,
Yeah, we have a 'pink slip' every 12 months.
Thing is, this is the trailing arm on my wee Sigma!!!! Doesn't leave the black-top mate!!!!:shock:

There was no inkling of pending failure either. Just all of a sudden, squirming all over the place and a dull thump.

I'm no slouch, when it comes to safety items either. Once found, if it can't be fixed, the car is off the road until it is. This sorta thing isn't really a regular 'check item'.

You're still driving a sigma?

For starters, that's an amazing effort.

Second thing, take it to the wreckers and get a Camry.
