Solid HP D60's ***CLOSED*** Anyone running a SOLID axle got any feedback?
I'm tossing up between Solid HP D60's or (I can already hear the boo-hiss) Nissan axles. Solids from my knowledge are tops but lotsa dosh. Nissan axles I'm thinking of going for are strong and cheap! edit: Or unimog axles? Cheers, |
What size tyres you going to ultimately run?
D60's are strong (I dont run them) but coupled with big wheel and tyre package can be very heavy. Think unsprung weight. Good for rockcrawling but not so good for high speed cotrol. Nissan strong cheap and lots of spares available quickly. I went Currie for strength and not as heavy and they also have good clearance. |
I'm going to 37's now but when I get the budget to turn my Jeep into a trailer only option and have a second car the Jeep will be sitting somewhere between 40 and 44" tyres.
Yeah, if I went Nissan axles I'd be getting some "strongest Nissan CV and axle" off Cal! |
If you are going to make a trailer queen and have heeps of cash go the 60's.
nissan..diffs...noooooo! |

Trailer queenage won't be for another couple of years! |
Couple of years and d60's will be allover the joint. Go the cheap and nasty option and see how quick or often you can break them. By the time you are sick of repairing them youll beable to pick up a set of 60's alot cheaper that what you can now. Only problem with a trailor queen is you need access to private property to drive the thing.

do the nissans and do a detailed build thread for the cut and flip on the
front housing so i can see how its done in detail . |
