Turbo Hose Help

Hey guys,

I've got a weird hissing coming from the front of the wrangler. It kicks in right around the 1700 rmp mark on load so it seems turbo hose/leak related.

Does anyone know who can replace turbo hoses relatively cheaply or if it is DIYable?

I've googled the problem (I think) but all the previous forums with recomendations seem to be around 2011 so I'm hoping there must be aftermarket parts now available.

Second problem is that my mechanic is now refusing to work on the wrangler, keeps telling me to buy a good Japanese car. After I spent 3.5k replacing broken exhaust manifold studs, gaskets and tensioner I'm starting to feel he may be right. So any help with a referral to a decent jeep mechanic would also be much appreciated.

2013 Diesel JK and I'm in Ryde, NSW.

Thanks

Replacement turbo hoses have been available from Samco for a while. Easy to fit. SBR off road sell them, and I'd assume others do as well.

I'd be getting a new mechanic before I got a new car. ATV Automotive are probably the closest Jeep specialist to you (Five Dock I think). They'd be able to give your JK a once over and see if it has any obvious serious issues. Otherwise I can recommend Shents in Wyong but it's a bit of trek.

Thanks Paul, been dreading another giant bill. I'll have a look.

BTW its a 2007 diesel not 2013, freudian wishful thinking!

The original turbo hoses on the early models were very soft and absorbed a lot of oil. There were quite a few cases of them splitting. The later models got better hoses (maybe 2011/2012 onwards). I swapped mine out for Samco hoses years ago. Even noticed the turbo spool up better with the new hoses as they don't expand as much under pressure.

Your factory hose would have failed because you dont have a catch can, its very common on the early jk's.
Nothing shits me more then a ************ mechanic that say "Get a jap car" buy a patrol.
If the spastic had half a brain then it doesn't matter where the car was made.
Respect the owners car, no matter if its a VB commodoor or a lambo.

Turbo hose replacement is simple, its a messy job due to the old hoses being covered in oil , but its 4 hose clamps, even the monkey you take your car too now should be able to do it..

Your mechanic is a idiot and possibly ripped you off. Sure Jeeps, like any vehicle, do have a few issues but most are pretty easy to fix. Especially if you aren't a mechanic with your head up your arse.

I fitted turbo hoses wearing a suit in the street. So it's not hard.

Any car can have a tensioner fail. Pretty common on those Japanese patrols.

Those Japanese patrols just melt Pistons instead!
