XJ Diesel 2.5 Tensioner Pulley
 

Hi,

The tensioner pulley on my XJ diesel 2.5 seized and the belt snapped I'm trying to remove the tensioner pulley I managed to undo the first bolt but the second one looks like an Allen Key im not sure

Any help please

i have not heard of any one replacing it.
You maybe the first.
will be interested to hear how you go.
i thought the pulley may have a removable bearing.
Dont know if the later 2.5 CRD ones are the same.

yes that are an allen key head on them and can be very hard to undo as they have not been moved for close to 20yrs, make sure you get the right size and try not to burr it or your buggered, ive got a few of them bolts if you do happen to stuff it

i replaced mine on the weekend as the bearing was starting to get too noisy to ignore any more. The big bolt MM is referring to is a 10 mm allen key. I was able to get a square drive allen key on a ratchet and crack it with a breaker bar. you dont need to remove any other bolts to remove the tensioner.

the only other bolt i thought you might be referring to is this one

it looks like it might be a tamper proof head, you would be able to remove it with something like this
