Front shock replacment WH CRD

This has probably been covered elsewhere so a link will do if there's already a "how to" - I need to replace the front and rear shocks on my 2009 WH CRD Laredo.
Understand that the rear are pretty straightforward but that the fronts are a bit more complex.
Anyone got a walkthrough on this or at least some tips as to whether the fronts are a simple enough job for me to do at home or if they would be better done by my mechanic?
Any feedback welcome

Mechanic, front struts are under very, very, very high pressure. One slip with spring compressors and it could be quite painful.

If you are fitting new springs as well then I suggest getting new upper strut mounts and spring rubbers as well, then you can get the strut assembled by mechanic and then fit them yourself at home. Just cost me $190 for all the strut mounts and front and rear spring rubbers from AutoRock.

I did the front ones at home, good spring compressor and a battery rattle gun easy really. But I would say it could all go wrong if you don't watch yourself. Just tighten them up pointing away from yourself.

But it's up to each individual to know your own capabilities and not take on a job that's beyond your mechanical abilities.

If you're confident swinging spanners you could drop the struts out
Then take them to a suspension shop & have them install the new cartridges
Refit your own struts and get a wheel alignment ??
