Tie Rod Sheared Hi
My tie rod end sheared off when turning out of my driveway, luckily was only doing 2 miles an hour! Just a quick one on the correct lower inner tie rod (passenger side) for a 2003 crd right hand drive. I think the original owner may have used the incorrect tie rod. Is the one pictured the correct one for the car? http://tinypic.com/r/zjb98n/9 http://i63.tinypic.com/zjb98n.jpg thanks |
What part sheered? i had one where the taper sheared off the ball from faulty machining.

It's possible the whole tie-rod has been installed back to front as the wrong tie-rod on the wrong side wouldn't work as the thread would be wrong. Check the other side too. |
I have seen the thread wear to the point of slipping out due to the tie bar lock nuts being loose and the 2 threads work on each other until there isn't enough to hold firm

Sorry I made an error in the original post; I stated the it was the lower track rod end; in fact it was the upper track rod end that snapped at the tapered thread. At passenger side.
Below is the part I removed from vehicle: is this the correct part? None of the part suppliers seem to have it listed as the upper track rod end http://www.ausjeepoffroad.com/forum/...07977f1210.jpg |
I believe you might mean lower drag link end, not sure if they are the same as the tie rod ends, i had one snap from faulty machining from the manufacturer.

I bought two supposedly high quality tie rod s for my 2010 WH ,from a company in Taiwan. They arrived direct from a Chinese mainland address. !! Absolute crap. one lasted 23 klms before it rattled.
