Possible suspension issue?

Hey folks, got a new fun thing to look into, wondering if it sounds familiar to anyone.

While driving on Sunday, just coasting in a 60, there was a clunk from the back. Not massive, but certainly noticeable. Right then a really loud squeaking started. From inside the car, sounds like it's coming from just behind the rear seat passenger side. It doesn't squeak with speed, more the up and down motion of the car.

Haven't been driving much lately, but had a bit of a look yesterday. When the car is sitting in the driveway and you give it a rock the squeak is audible. I started it up and lifted it to offroad height 2 to crawl under, couldn't see anything obvious. But then noticed when I got back in that the squeaking had stopped. Lowered it back down and went for a drive and no squeak.

Then I had to give it a little bit while entering a busy roundabout, certainly nothing unreasonable, but a healthy acceleration. Clunk again, squeak is back.

So clunk, then squeak, lifting stops the squeak, but then it clunks again and squeak comes back. Squeaks as the car bounces up and down. Rear passenger corner. I'm wondering if it's maybe a worn bushing or linkage that's shifting?

Going to dig deeper on Saturday morning, would be very appreciative if anyone has ideas of what I should be looking at/for.

Thanks for any help!

Well I managed to have a look this arvo. I still don't know what exactly is going on, but I know my Friday night is ruined. It's coming from the shaft that comes out the top of the whole subframe that keeps the back end together. If I just push it up lightly I hear the squeak and I can feel the vibration that's causing it. I have no idea what's at the top of that shaft. Went to the other side to try to see what it's supposed to look like and the sheet metal around that one's all torn up like this one is. I can't imagine any of this is normal.

Anyone know what's up in there, how I get to it, or some general idea of how screwed I am?

Not normal, the squeak is from the torn metal, it will only get worse big time, I had a look under mine and while its not an air job, your pics are they taken from the front of the rear wheel just behind the jacking point ??
If so what your looking at should be a rubber bush and it should be very close to the body, maybe 30mm, so something has been happening for a very long time.......... either way the back end will have to be dropped and some fancy welding done to rebuild the support which has torn away.... a good smash repairer will be needed for sure, a damn good one as the alignment has to be spot on...

A genuine off road suspension jiont should be able to get it right...but....it will take some searching....looking for a shop that has guys that off road BIG time and do suspension rebiulds on a daily basis....'maybe' your local 4WD Club can give you a few shop tips...not how to but where to...shez shagged

Yep. I don't like the sound of this at all. Anyone know the guys at Jeeps-R-Us in Coffs Harbour? I'm thinking about emailing them the pics and seeing if they can recommend someone. This is going to cost me.

Right shop to call for info.

It does require a panel shop, specialist in cut and shutting, someone that can rebuild a broken body so be selective..........
Here's a lookie at whats what in a parts breakdown, the link will bring up the individual parts breakdown numbers................... I imagine that tube is possibly what the bolt screws into, if it is then I think there's more horrible things inside the panel................. I hope not.

Item 3/4 are the front bushes, 2/4 are the rearmost set, of course they are mirrored on the other side just not shown.
