TJ: Tigger's V8

This is a very long overdue project which is finally going to happen after 2 years of waiting. My wife's TJ, 'Tigger', (formerly owned by Jason in Sydney) was slated to take a V8 almost two years ago when we started work. The entire drivetrain was gutted and the motor mounts cut off ready to accept a 5.7L Gen III Holden V8. At this point a mate came along in Tigger's twin brother (Thomas) wanting the same project done and quickly became the guinea pig for our conversion (see the build thread for that project here: http://www.ausjeepoffroad.com/forum/...ad.php?t=87052 ). Tigger was put on hold and hauled into the backyard where he has sat for nearly two years while the other project commenced (and finally finished).

There is a story about how the V8 idea came to be. Tigger was originally parked with a blown front locker (Detroit EZ) awaiting an ARB replacement. Then our daughter bought a TJ with a cracked head so we robbed the one off Tigger (why have 2 Jeeps down?). Then she needed a radiator so out came Tiggers. At this point we decided to upgrade instead of replace - the V8 project was born! Soon after, some other folks wanted bits from Tigs we wouldnt be using and the big stripdown began! Before we knew it, Tigger was just a shell of a Jeep! And very pathetic looking. Its been a sad 2 years looking at it sitting there not getting any attention - not even a bath! But bigger plans were looming...

Today, the guinea pig is done and gone so I moved Tigs one step closer to the garage. V8 parts are on order (see upcoming posts) and plans have been laid. We hope Tigger comes out every bit as good as Thomas. Now for the weird part (and this is NO fib): Tigger's ignition keys have been stored away in a secure drawer for nearly two years virtually untouched. Today i found them sitting right next to the keys of my daily driver in a totally different drawer! Was very spooky. Do you think Tigger knows something is about to happen?
