CRDSTU lift

Hey guys, I've frequented this site a lot over the years for research, but I think this is probably my first post. At least since I've started driving a Commander.

I'm about to order the CRDSTU lift kit for the commander from Murchison products in Brisbane, according to them I should get a 3" in the front and 2.5" in the rear. I'm pretty confident it will be a good kit, as he makes it himself, but i was wondering if anyone else has it, or heard about it on the commander?

Aiming to fit 275/70/17 Cooper STT's. As I know 265's fit in the RC 2" no problem I'm assuming I can fit slightly larger ones.

Cheers,

Mickey

Gday Mickey,
I'm running Stu's gear, it's good stuff. Rides and handles on and off road a whole bunch better than stock.
Re the tires, I think you'll struggle with that size, I'm running 265/65/17 BFG AT's and they rub a bit at full lock. The spare is also a tight fit at that size.

Talk to Stu about the GDE flash tune as well, it's well worth it.

Good luck

Thanks Dave,

Appreciate the feedback. Especially on the tires. I've read that with some minor plastic cutting you can take care of rubbing. I'll get chat to Stu about them and the tune, it has one on it from the last owner, I think he bought it from the UK. I'll have to look into further.

I am 99% sure the Grand & Commander kit are the same.

Also something to watch with that tyre size is the bolt/nut on the front upper control arms. You made need to run a larger offset wheel so the rubber clears it.

Yes Stu knows what he's doing and I would recommend his parts and advice. I think I've done more serious off roading than any other Commander in Oz and I run Stu's front end gear and his engine chip upgrade. Awesome!

PS. don't use Coopers if you want good life out of off road tyres. they're OK for 99% road use but chip and wear very fast when doing serious off road use. Just get a set of Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armour 245/57R/17 (ex stock JK's) off this forum for abut $500 -$700 which have done only 5000km, bargain and you'll get better traction and kilometres
