Quadrtec had the AEV bar without winch plate for $799 about a month ago on their website, and now they dont, only the more expensive with winch plate option. So's I call em up and ask why? Their feedback after checking is that AEV determined that there was not enough rigidity / strength withour winch plate, hence are no longer shipping it - only the more expensive with winch plate version from now on. May be AEV is selling sooo many they cant be buggered making a cheaper version, but I have found Quadratec to be very good. So it would be interesting if you could actually order the 799 version from custom jeep.

Here's another prototype bar that will soon be available, as with Hanson's TJ bars I'm sure the hoops will be optional.

Think it looks pretty good for a US bar still a few legal issues but i reckon you'd get away with it.

Waiting to hear back from Smartbar over in WA, E-Mailed them to see if they had any intention of developing a bar with winch support for the JK. some of their bars look pretty good plus they are a lot lighter that the steel bars out there. Which is of course important these days as GVM is easy to blow.
I even put a link to the AEV bar to say "hey how about something like this." |
