Strange Warning I apologise for posting here as I have a KL Cherokee Trailhawk, but I think the problems I have are generic . I posted in the KL site and then replied to myself that the problem was fixed, it was for one day. On starting the EVIC flashes service park brake, service transmission, ABS disabled, 4WD temporally disabled. The park brake light comes on when starting up, alarms sound when driving and the terrain indicator goes from auto to snow for no reason, I am at wits end, my mechanic put his scanner on yesterday and had no immediate answers. I am hoping that someone might have some thoughts on a fix.

Have you checked out your battery?

Strange Warning Battery 2 months old showing 13.9 volts

Strange Warning It looks like the problem is identified, The ABS sensor on the left front wheel had failed, this caused the terrain knob to change from auto to snow and the chain of failures to transmission jerking, Braking system requiring service etc.
The part is available in Melbourne for about $80 plus 18% freight levy. 3 to 5 days to Cairns. |
I got 2 speed sensors for the back of mine for about that much from Rockauto and 6 days, though I got the EVIC saying No ABS, No FWD and a few other things with the chimes going off a bit, I just hit okay to shut it up and kept driving until the mail man arrived... 2 days from the states and 4 days for 200kms by aust post ....

Thanks Drover, I have used Rockauto before, I did want to drive it with the transmission jerking, or maybe it was just the brakes coming on and off, I get concerned with the vulnerability of the 9 speed in the Cherokee, I was much happier when I had a 2011 WK2 and only sold it because wife wanted a smaller car, the WK gave me no problems at all.

Sounds like its shorting try unplugging the lead altogether might just stop the tranny getting false info......... but yeah i wouldn't drive if the tranny was playing up as well.
