What do you wish to run/ The diesel alt is about 120A IIRC. The biggest issue is the low reg voltage. There is a fix for it by adding a resistor to the battery temp sensor that is located under the battery. There is a bit of info about doing it on the forum. I think Junglejuice has posted a bit about it.

Cant find a auto electrician interested and non list anything above standard.
Go jeep list the wg with bit of rework . Would like to stay with now mods if i can. |
Just remember the stock battery wiring will also need upgrading for any major output upgrades. I believe there is a fuseable link in there somewhere....
Google provides a few US examples if your into this type of thing: :p |
this is a 120 for a pre up date, Im sure they have one that will fir yours .
http://qui-quote.com/unit-q13-453/ or a DIY amperage upgrade for yr existing unit, again for pre-update but they will have post update as well im sure http://alternatorstarterrebuildkits....ator-upgrades/ or https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...generator,2412 Also google Xj 136 amp alternator I would also suggest a extra cable with a maxifuse in it going from the B+ve straight to the battery as well as the original cable. |
Alternator xj 2001 Look for threads on Dodge Durango alternators for XJ, should be an option for 160A for a relatively good price from Rock Auto with only minor grinding to clear a bracket. Would be best to upgrade your battery and alternator wiring at the same time though, I’m not planning on doing my upgrade without this (4AWG minimum)
Wiring kits are available ready to go or you can DIY. Try http://www.geocities.ws/jeepi6power/electric.html Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
