Couple sharp blows and it'll pop loose

I'll give that a go, thanks.

I think the reason they wore out is the JK balljoints have plastic interior bushings and mine are almost 150,000km old...

Jk drag link.

Hey mate I know this is an old thread but..... does the Terraflex fit with stock everything else? I’m getting a bit cheesed off with changing drag links (gone through two crown ones)...

Are you running standard rims?

Got recommended not to bother with Crown steering as a replacement by Midnightmods on here, even saying that getting some take offs was better !

Glad I took the advise with reports of premature failure rates.
Couldnt get take offs so went OEM with some discount from local dealers.
Got 8 years & 135,000 Km out of original steering before one of the boots started spiting grease & adjuster seized up. ... Still drive-able though.
Price on Crown parts was tempting.
Treaflex HD looked nice and beefy but not much difference in price to OEM
Didnt need really heavy duty gear for what I do.
With new steering fitted ... feels so much better and positive on road.

Yes.. My original lasted at least 160k. I put what I thought was a genuine Mopar on and it failed within 20k ...
My steering felt great when I put the Crown arms on initially.. but 10k kms later and its all slop again :wall:. I just want something that lasts, I'm also looking at the Synergy draglink, again its overkill on strength etc for what I do (like you) but looks like an easier fit (no adjuster sleeve to mess about with etc.). They are about $290 from SBR and I think they fit with everything else as stock (I don't need the high steer option).
The Crown price is the tempter like you say.. but I think you probably get what you pay for.

Did you do the track rod as well?
I've also have crown track rod ends.. I need to check but I think they have probably failed again as well adding to my wanderings on the freeway :(.

Did both the Drag Link and main Tie Rod (that was the most expensive) with associated Track Rod ends & adjuster sleeves new nuts & washers etc Full lot.
Cost before extortionate UK 20% sales tax £630 = $1114 Australian dollars
(Don't Steal the Govt doesn't like the competition)

plus fitting by my experienced trusted local shop and Hunter wheel alignment specialists

Did you look at the lower control arms as a suspect for wandering?.... I've got 250k on my clock and never touched them.. when underneath looking at the control arms while someone is turning the wheel there seems quite a bit of side to sideways movement...ie axle moving and not the body..not sure how normal this is..?
