for 5 speed transmissions Castrol multitrax or if a ax15 gearbox, engine oil but agree fancy boutique oils tend to be over rated except for extreme conditions I use the MOPAR Manual Transmission Lubricant part number 04874464. but thats because because I have a six speed which seems fussy about lube and dont know enough about the affects on this transmission with after market equivalents and only need to change it every 50K's I wouldn't just put any shi t in, even in my whipper snipper. |
ok.. if you think its not good advice.. thats cool.. but his 5 speed is an ax15 and are an old style 5 speed box.. there is no need to spend big bucks on oil for it.... you would be just wasting your money.. spend less and change it more often..

oh ok, so its only the newer 6 speeds which require this rare exotic gearbox oil refined by monks in the bottom of volcanoes in siberia?
|
thats about right. if you have the old ax15, a plain old sae 30 engine oil will do. have heard if you use a gearbox specific oil in these transmissions, it chews out the alloy in the synchros.
for the other 5 speeders, Castrol Multitrax. |
