Snorkel Kits for XJ

Hi wanting to fit a snorkel to my xj, 4.0l

Seems to be two very different price points, my main questions is has any one got the cheaper option, if so are they any good. With $500 difference in price why such a huge difference is the Safari simply overpriced or that much better, thanks

I had a cheap one
Till I snapped the pipe clean off
Although it was on my old xj which layed down lots and got smashed into trees and rocks very often

I would buy another

Its the difference in quality of the plastic, Safari is a well known brand and the other is a knock off. I have personally fitted two of the knockoffs, and can't fault them for the price.

Interesting that SteveF's Xj is used for the example for the cheapie...

Personally unless I had ABS on a 95- I wouldn't use either as the hose is quite small and travels quite a distance to get to the air box when compared to the Airflow units and also you'll lose your washer bottle where you don't with the Airflow.
If you have ABS and a 95- you'll find the Safari style the easiest.
The Safari was designed to fit the 94 which has the washer bottle in the engine bay which is why it runs the path that it does...

Thanks, just checked airflow option right in the middle price wise, might go that option, rather leave washer bottle where it is.

All types still use stock airbox and filter yes, the hose is clamped to front of airbox

Not the Airflow it enters the rear of the stock air box...

Thanks JJ I like that option better, just read gojeeps write up on fitting one, not straight forward to fit one, might look at other options to lift air intake at least to top of bonnet somehow
