Pulled the trigger - new lift on the way!
 

After running the Teraflex levelling kit on my 14 JKUS for the last 3 years, I’ve ordered a Rancho 2” sport lift with adjustable RS9000 shocks. My Gobi rack and hanging a 285/70r17 tyre on Fuel Beast rim off the back has seen my Jeep’s butt drop an inch, and the ride is a bit too soft and spongy now. The progressive springs and adjustable shocks should help at a reasonable cost compared with other adjustable shocks on the market.

I’ve also ordered a Teraflex rear track bar bracket and front lower Sport control arms to bring the caster and roll centre back to where it should be. I’m going to leave the 1” spacer in the rear to compensate for the back-heavy bias of my current set up, especially when I’m loaded with camping gear. Can’t wait!!!!

Before and after pics to follow when I’ve installed everything. If anyone needs me I’ll be sitting in my camping chair by my front door waiting for the delivery guy... :p

I used to run the Rancho 9000's on my old XJ and was really impressed with them. I have also heard good things about them in the JK's from the few people who run them. Most people go with the more blingy brands that are out there now for JKs, but i get the impression that the old Rancho 9000's are still great and maybe one of the most underrated shocks out there now.

Lets us know what you think of them.

Yes, they aren’t as flash as the newer (and significantly more expensive) adjustable offerings from Teraflex etc, but from my research they should work just fine for the type of wheeling I do (mostly beach, fire roads and moderate trails to get to camping spots). The fact that I can easily adjust them to cater for the front/rear weight distribution of my set up, depending on my load, is a winner.

The only issues that I’m aware of is that the shock body paint quality/durability is hit and miss, and the adjusters can seize up over time. I’ll be giving all the shocks a few coats of heavy duty clear coat and removing the adjuster knob and packing it with grease before I install the shocks on the Jeep. Good preventative maintenance, particularly as I live on the coast and take my Jeep out on the beaches relatively frequently.

I’ll report back on the install and first impressions as soon as they arrive. :cool:

I was in a similar boat until a few weeks ago running a set of spacers and the mopar springs I got cheap.
Finally got some new springs and bits and pieces and man the difference is unreal.

Interested to hear your feedback re the shocks as that’s my next move.

Thanks Dom! It’ll be two weeks before the kit arrives from the US (Quadratec) and the track bar and lower control arms come from SBR (my preferred Aussie supplier), but will post review as soon as possible!! :cool:

Which springs did you end up going with?

Nice, sbr have been good to deal with for me.

I ended up with Stu flexi coils - the xxx longest he had.
Also had to put in the jks acos rear adjustable spring spacers to be able to leave the beast out due to all the gear on it.
