My XJ 3" Lift & Locker instal Hi guys
Just thought Id post up some pictures of my XJ and what Ive been doing the last few days. Installed Ruff Country's 3" lift Kit and a Spartan Auto locker in the front dana30 diff. Before shot. http://members.dodo.com.au/~rustynluke/jeep/jeep1.jpg http://members.dodo.com.au/~rustynluke/jeep/jeep2.jpg Axles out http://members.dodo.com.au/~rustynluke/jeep/jeep3.jpg The mail man shows up  http://members.dodo.com.au/~rustynluke/jeep/jeep4.jpg Ruff Country's LCA's look heaps stronger than the standard arms and are slightly longer to correct caster. http://members.dodo.com.au/~rustynluke/jeep/jeep5.jpg 3" Springs http://members.dodo.com.au/~rustynluke/jeep/jeep6.jpg Carrier & Spider gears out ready for the locker http://members.dodo.com.au/~rustynluke/jeep/jeep7.jpg http://members.dodo.com.au/~rustynluke/jeep/jeep8.jpg http://members.dodo.com.au/~rustynluke/jeep/jeep9.jpg Locker installed into carrier http://members.dodo.com.au/~rustynluke/jeep/jeep10.jpg Springs & LCA's installed http://members.dodo.com.au/~rustynluke/jeep/jeep11.jpg Carrier, new Axle seals & painted diff cover installed http://members.dodo.com.au/~rustynluke/jeep/jeep12.jpg Front done & on the ground http://members.dodo.com.au/~rustynluke/jeep/jeep13.jpg Onto the rear Leaf packs. I also removed the rear sway bar. http://members.dodo.com.au/~rustynluke/jeep/jeep14.jpg All done. http://members.dodo.com.au/~rustynluke/jeep/jeep15.jpg http://members.dodo.com.au/~rustynluke/jeep/jeep16.jpg http://members.dodo.com.au/~rustynluke/jeep/jeep17.jpg http://members.dodo.com.au/~rustynluke/jeep/jeep18.jpg http://members.dodo.com.au/~rustynluke/jeep/jeep19.jpg First drive and only problem was the steering wheel not straight. I have no death woobles or vibes :) Measurements from center of wheel to guard was 17" Front & Rear Now its sitting at 20" Front & Rear Would like too thank Wooders garage for the locker and Hammerhead4x4 for the lift kit. Cant wait for the weekend to get out and give it a good workout with the sway bar disconnected at some local tracks. Moving onto sliders now for a little sill protection. |
Did you do the bumpstops while you were at it? You are more likely to hit the tranny lines when you lift the front (providing the springs allow flex) then when stock.
How is the ride? I also notice that you have a panhard relocation bracket fitted so be really careful allowing the passenger wheel to droop as the ball joint on the end of the panhard will run out of travel very quickly allowing damage to occur.... Looks good tho... |
Hey mate, Just wondering was there any issues with hammerhead? I'm looking at purchasing a 4.5" inch lift from them of ebay. The lift looks good buddy.

Thanks JJ I removed the one standard front bump stop that was left. Im going in today to find a cheap rubber mellet I can cut in two and silcone them onto the coil base plates. Will standard size bump stops be fine for the front? I still plan to run the 253s for a while. Also the standard rear bump stop are in good condition. I will check where it bottoms out first. The bracket came with the kit and seems to be doing a good job at bringing the diff into line. Is it better to redrill a hole like gojeep? |
Get crutch rubbers from Clark Rubber to replace the original bumpstups.

Make sure you get a shipping quote as the auto prices that come up on ebay are wrong |
