aFe Throttle Body Spacer issue?
 

Hi all,

I recently purchased and installed an aFe Throttle Body Spacer on my JK 2012. When I went to start the engine, it turns on but sits at a very low 1,000-1,500 RPM even while pressing on the accelerator sitting in parked (automatic).

Haven't taken the JK for a test drive yet but not sure if this is normal? Checked all hoses and connections and nothing missing.

Does anyone have experience with throttle body spacers that can provide some advice?
Would I maybe be needing a tune?

I’d guess that the air sensor under the intake pipe has lost connection or broken. When you remove the intake from the throttle body the wire that goes to the sensor is really short. Moving it may have altered that on some way and now it’s not detecting a change in airflow and therefore not adjusting the throttle.

Any malfunction codes to indicate something not connected? Throttle control would be my first guess, since you say that pressing the throttle does not change the revs.

Next question is; could there be an air leak, something not sealed properly?

A TBS just adds a little more volume to the manifold and may adjust the airflow a little as it goes from he throttle body into the manifold. Other than if something is not plugged in correctly, there is nothing I can think of to go wrong there.

Take it off - it will make absolutely no measurable difference.

As for you problems do you have any dash warning lights ? The servo throttle is pretty tightly monitored as you'd expect and there's a dash warning light just for it IIRC.

As for the sensor in the rubber hose that's the Intake Air Temperature sensor.... the vehicle will run and drive with it disconnected but you'll get a check engine light.
