JK Clockspring install - turn signals wont turn off My JK had the clockspring issue along time ago(airbag lights/chime), ordered a clockspring online a year ago or so
Just recently got a mechanic to install it for me. Than just noticed when he left turn signals wont turn off now. Mechanic will come back tomorrow. Is it the clock spring fault or is it a separate issue? I do feel like there is a noise/knock when turning. Something loose? Any ideas? |
Make sure your steering wheel is centered properly because if its a little out one side will cancel early and the other wont cancel depending on what side its off too , as for the knock , at a guess with out seeing & feeling it id say the Clockspring isn't properly seated , or the locking clip hasn't been removed properly from the center top of the Clockspring .

Whel cant be off centre as the spline is keyed (a couple of splines missing) so the wheel can only go back on correctly, unless of course forced on....
The indicator in cancelled by two small lugs in the clockspring mechanism and if the indicator stalk is not siting in correctly the lugs wont trip off the canceller in the stalk. It is also possible the small cancelling lug on the indicator has been broken, though if it cancels in one direction maybe not. There are some pics on my blog you may be able to zoom in and see. http://www.justaskdave.com.au/jk-clo...g-replacement/ Sent from a tiny mobile device with fat thumbs... |
in laymans terms, is this when installing the clockspring? or something I can look @ myself?

Have a look at the pics on the link I just edited into the last post. You can't see it until you remove the horn/airbag, steering wheel, steering column shroud and then indicator stalk! Then the wiper stalk too, to remove the clockspring...

SO you think the mech didnt install the wheel properly? or is it a loose wire/stalk?
