under body bash plates
 

was under the car doing an oil change and was looking at the factory bash covers
for the engine and transmission.
Was thinking as the transmission pan has cooling fins on it, how little air can actually pass through the fins due to the factory cover being tight up against it with no air vents.
Wondering if a better designed pan cover would add to the trannys cooling?

I doubt it but after market plates certainly improve the protection compared to factory panels.... I have fitted Custom OffRoads S/steel plates to mine so it has a steel shield from bullbar to back of tranny, it would be getting more flow from the engine bay than anything I would imagine... I never noticed any changes in temps, bit like removing the engine cover temps never changed but the engine does cool down quicker when shut down....

i noticed some have air vents stamped into them and other not.
The factory ones are like some sort of pressed nylon coated with wooly stuff which pretty well only stops bugs etc !!

The holes and "vents" are generally to save weight as they really don't need to be a solid sheet of metal...also with some shaping it reduces any chance of the metal sheeting creating unwanted harmonics.
...the cooling effect from passing air would be minimal anyway due to being tucked up out of harms way...the best cooling is via the inbuilt oil cooling system.

Nicely cut, way cheaper than some I see around, made here so not chinese crap and fit as they should, holes where they should be only need to drop one when you do a tranny service... bolts are long enough so you will hear a rattle well before it starts to flap around...
A bluddy good product mine have been on for a few years now and being stainless no rust and its a nice feeling if you fall into a rut knowing underneath has some protection I can tell you................

Funny about that Drover...I have a Chief steel bash plate up front already, and had planned to call these dudes tomorrow to try and pick up the sump & tranny bash plate...and have a look at their fuel filter cover while I am at it...
