P0237 Code, help please.
 

Hi Guys.
Done an advanced search on the forum and no results. Google is just providing generic information.

Been out in Jeep today and red lightning bolt started to flash. Few minutes later and check engine light came on and Jeep went into limp mode.

Managed to get it on a scan tool - good quality one, £6k of Snap On - code is P0237 'Turbo Boost Pressure Sensor Low'. That is the only code showing.

Anyone any suggestions please? Checked the turbo pipework for leaks and all seems ok. Nothing obvious. Turbo actuator seems to be moving ok when i cycle ignition.

Swirl Motor delete was done about 6 years ago with a 'plug and play' unit.

Hey Brit,

MAP sensor could be faulty. Take it off, clean and check it. It’s on the airbox intake pipe. Check down below where the air temp sensor is for leaks/damage. It’s down near the throttle body.
Obviously have a good look around for any boost leaks.
Your turbo actuator may still be faulty. Worth keeping a G001 Chinese one as a back up and swapping it in to eliminate that.

Right, i know where the MAP sensor is on the airbox, so that is ok. I need proper sensor cleaner spray right?

Is the air temp sensor the flimsy looking one that fits into the throttle body? The file that 'chipz' put up about changing the alternator shows it. Is that the air temp sensor?

Any idea where the boost pressure sensor is?

I have looked over all the intercooler hoses and they look ok. No oil misting. The turbo resonator has only just been replace, complete with new O rings.

The actuator is cycling ok when i turn ignition on and off if that means anything?

I am considering replacing the intercooler hoses. They are 14 years old and could have a split i cant see. Who were the guys in england that sent you the hoses?

Hey Brit,

When they refer to the boost sensor, it seems to be the MAP sensor they are talking about. Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor. It can play havoc if it’s faulty.

Yes, Chirps sensor down there near the alternator. If that’s damaged or become dislodged then you can lose a heap of pressure.

It seems a coincidence that your getting codes just after a resonator replacement. You may need to check those connections.

The actuator can still cycle, but be faulty with heat etc and after running car. When I took my daughters actuator off, the lever on the turbo was sticky. I think the veins or lever were a bit gummed up. I worked the lever up and down by hand a ton of times while spraying wd40 into the shaft. Also sprayed some turbo and dpf cleaner straight into the turbo while revving it up. Replaced the actuator with a Chinese one and she has never had a problem again.

Try replace/clean MAP.
Clean veins/actuator shaft with turbo cleaner.
Replace actuator.
Check for leaks on all boost piping. Might have to do a boost leak pressure check.

The chinese actuator is £73 on ebay. They ask for the numbers on my actuator so they send correct one. I can get mine rebuilt here in uk by turbo specialist for £120. What do you think?

Do you recall who you got your intercooler hoses from? Jeepchryslerparts have them but i am waiting for a response to email i sent. I need to make sure they are a fit for my kidney shaped resonator.

Some of the jobs you have listed are beyond my skill set and availability of tools. Will need to pass them on to my garage. He knows little about the om642 so your advice is invaluable.

I found that the seals provided were junk, so I reused my old seals which pressure tested OK. When I went to Chrysler, they said they did not sell the seals and you had to buy entire hoses to get them. I’m pretty sure they fitted our kidney shaped resonator, although I did end up doing the delete. Best to check with them though. You can go through my old thread on the daughters WH for more details.

I would get a Chinese actuator as you can just swap it in when your ready and it’s cheaper. I’ve tested them and they work OK. The G001 works with all of them I believe. I’ve heard that the gears can be repaired on the rebuilt ones, but have heard mixed reports when the electronics are playing up.

I am waiting for them to get back to me about the flat resonator. I remember yours did not fit as it had the canister shaped one?

I have new seals and O rings. Got a full set from ID Parts when the resonator was replaced.
