WH Guard flares

Hi All,

Just a quick one to see if anyone has come across a set of flares to go on a wk?? I just bought a set of wheels and tires, which are just outside the body. The wheels are 18"x8" and tires 255/55/18

The wheels look awesome, and I'd love to be able to keep them on the grand....

I have had a pretty good search and it seems that the closest are that bushwacker have just released a set to go on a wj, does this mean we only have another 5 or so years to wait??

If I cant find a solution I guess I will have to put them up for sale, they could possibly go on a commander, or a wj grand or jk with bolt-ons...

@g_ordo; I assume you've figured something out by now...

I'm also after flares, so figured I'd revive this old topic.

@Dave if you're reading; can you show us how you've mounted the rubber extrusion flare stuff?
I've had a bunch of it (from Clark Rubber.) laying around for ages while I procrastinate about how to mount it.

I've thought of either using some crazy-strong 3M double-sided tape (the type which uses an adhesive primer.).
Or bolt from the outside in (which is how they're intended to be mounted I believe.), or from the inside out.

Curious to see how you spaced the bolts, and how they've kept their shape.
Also interested in how you did the rear door section.

I dont know if they fit or not, be worth looking into, rather then putting on ugly rubber flares, have a look and see if you can get your hand on the small 'spats' that come standard on the WH SRT-8, that would be enough to make those wheels look a little less obvious

Nothing yet, have been driving on them still, been followed by the fuzz a few times, but no interest thankfully.

I made contact with bushwacker in the US, they have some interest, but nothing in the works yet, they only just released the wj flares...

I only need to get another 40 odd thousand ks out of the tires and they will have served their purpose, then I dont know what i'll do with the wheels, perhaps see how they fit on the wifes jk...

Cheers Gordo

DUDE! You may have just saved me from whole lot of trouble!
Thanks heaps, I didn't realise they were standard (on all export SRT8s apparently.).

I'll try to dig up some info on them.

Here's a photo for anyone watching.

They look pretty nice IMO.
And would also provide a good platform to make some custom ones.
Saves me from drilling holes or trying to cast a mold on the side of the car .

I used some HD auto trim double sided tape, then used some large flange rivets once i was happy how they looked. There is another profile of extruded rubber which screws through the under side of the guard (that way if you remove it the holes will be where you cant see them). I only used 4 rivets per piece, and they havent moved. You can get this in 35mm, 50mm and 80mm i think. Same for the other profile.

This is the other one which bolts or screws up from underneath. Cant use it if you have done the rear fender trim though.

Thanks Dave.
Good to know the auto trim tape will hold them well enough to try them on for size/looks.

I'll be folding the pinch-welds over shortly so I'll have to use the side-mounted one like you.

I'm definitely gunna chase up these SRT8 mouldings first though.
I imagine they'd be a ripoff genuine, but I may get lucky somehow .
