OPerating temperatre

Can someone tell me what the normal water temp for a crd is. Mine runs around 70 normally but lately it has been creeping up to around 80 s0metimes. We have days around the 30 degree days.
cheers Phil

When i first got my CRD it took for ever to get to almost 70, which i thought was far to cold.
Once i replaced the thermostat, the temperature now runs just above the 85 mark even when it's 40plus deg's.

Mine was originally running around 60 (bought it in May) but with the recent Brissy heat wave its been getting up to a little over 70. Doing a low range long climb I've seen mid 90's. Remember, the hydraulic fan doesn't fully kick in until 98-ish. I've never got there. I did pop off the connection to the temperature sensor to test the fan. Trust me, you'll know if it's running!

I would not be concerned about mid 80's on a hot day.

On the gauge it will be on the 3/8 mark

JeanLuke, what year is yours? Mine was up to 102*C and the fan did not change to high. I could hear it ramp up a bit when it was 35*C outside and the A/C was running. JeepDiagPro said 15% PWM only.

Mine is 2004. I use Torque Pro to get temperature readings. JeepDiag Pro does not do any engine stuff for me (only gearbox at the moment) so I cannot comment on my PWM.

I read somewhere (cannot recall where) that the fan should hit full speed at 210F (or 98C).

This TSB discusses the 4.7 with the hydraulic fan:
http://www.wjjeeps.com/tsb/tsb_wj_0700201.pdf

THE COOLING FAN SHOULD BE OPERATING WHEN ENGINE TEMPERATURE
IS BETWEEN 105°C TO 112°C

When yours started to run normally was it as loud as when you unplugged the temperature sensor?

I've never got it warm enough to find out. My comment about hearing the fans was based on how loud they were when I disconnected the temperature sensor.
