Have recently fitted the C-ROK steering box brace/stiffener To left & right hand side.
Left hand send by mistake, kept & fitted as vehicle was L/H drive and fitted as it should providing a good platform for steering box brace.

R/H side modified with larger sleaves to from steering box mount.

My 'new' XJ..no steering after 2 weeks :(

Hi Jeepers

Just got myself a '96 XJ after a few years without a fourby, thought I'd try a Jeep after my Rover crapped itself, thought they were tough!

Haven't even got the tyres dirty yet but have replaced the water pump, and now the steering let go...as I pulled into a parking spot at the shops...lucky!!

Thinking it might be the same known problem on this thread, the steering box has come away from the chassis. Gonna be on the phone to Jeep now that I know about the recall.

I have some pics if anyone has any comments or advice, really wondering if I've bought an albatross for my neck, sucker. :(http://www.ausjeepoffroad.com/forum/...05e5b44915.jpg

Jeep picked it up and are fixing it...good service on an 18yo car...

Just know that they may stall and delay and you have to keep at them. My experience is that 'they don't call you, you call them'. Mine took monthsfor them to agree they should fix it then months to actually fix it. All good now though

Mine took 6 weeks, for some reason they've had the sump off by the look of it???

So I've had mine fixed twice before, and now its making the same horrible creaky/cracking sounds as before... this is sh***ing me something chronic!

Anyone know of a decent repairer I could try? I don't even mind paying my own way, I'm just sick of the worry
