CRD Loredo weird ticking noise from engine
 

hey guys, opened my bonnet today to help jump start a mates car and realized a semi loud ticking noise no idea what it is but also noticed a burning wax/candle kinda smell from the engine bay and also come into the cabin when i turn the heater on,

Cars also a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo CRD 3ltr.

Sounds like a compression leak to me, injector maybe?

Injector? you reckon it could be a seal on one of the injectors? whats the best way to tell with these things?

Go to a diesel/Mercedes mechanic, best not to much around with in my opinion.

Sounds like that to me too. A leaky injector seal, more common in the WJ/WG CRD world (and Mercedes of that era). Any good common-rail diesel mechanic should be able to fix it.

Search for Black Death and you will find out all that you need. It's not actually death for the engine...
