Sticky Clutch when warm Good evening all,
When driving the Ax15 all is fine until the cars warmed up or been driven for a little while the clutch sticks a little so it’s hard to get to the biting point on the clutch. Could this be one or all of the following? (I had a new new clutch recently and all was fine until a few months after the replacement.) 1: fluid in clutch master/slave cylinder dirty/tainted? 2: clutch/master cylinder on its way out 3: problems with the new clutch/throw out bearing 4: the pedal itself, I’ve noticed there is a little play where the cylinder rod and pedal meet, also, I have to pull the clutch pedal about an inch towards me to have it all the way back, it changes gear and drives no problem regardless if I do this or not. Any ideas would be good! I guess a good flush of the clutch cylinder wouldn’t hurt any way, is it awkward to do? |
Check the fluid level first in the little container . Fluid should be close to the top full (about 5-10mm from top). If fluid Ok than take it back to the guys who replaced the clutch to have a look at the issue .
It could also be a gear selector or gear box issue(oil maybe) . Not sure..haven't had that problem yet . |
Ok bud, thanks

I had a look in the master cylinder reservoir and looks compromised. It was black with a brown layer on the top! How do I flush this do we know? Thanks

If you dont have a bleed nipple, you can remove the slave & move it up to above the master. It can be done. Then remove the spring clip holding the piston in & pump the peddle once to remove the slave piston. then fill the slave with fresh fluid & push the piston back in all the way. This should push the dirty fluid all back to the MC & you can then syringe it out & refill with new fluid. make sure you put the spring clip back in the slave & then put it all back. You may need a bit of force to get the slave piston back & all the way down the slave if the line is blocked or damaged. The alternate is to buy a new MC/slave that is prefilled & install it |
Wow, layback, thanks so much. I appreciate that!

Hi,
If this doesn’t work, do I need to get a sealed unit replacement or can I just replace the cylinders and leave the hose in place? It seems like a very awkward job to replace the whole unit. I’ve watched a few videos on Youtube where they have just replaced the cylinders and seems to work. Would these work? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Clutch-Ma...sAAOSwA3dYD7qz https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Clutch-sl...cAAOSwpP9Y7TEe |
