Absolutely important: The gearbox and the torque converter have to be installed as one unit. Otherwise you risk damaging the oil pump gears on the transmission. You need to make sure the converter is properly seated in the transmission before installing it.

Do anyone knows correct installation depth for converter? Mine is about 5mm outside of bellhousing. Can not get it any deeper. (2,7 CDR)

Check out my topic here, I may have posted something about the torque converter depth.

I'll look over my pictures from the rebuild process (plenty more than in the topic) later, maybe there is extra information.

Thanks for reply!
Unfortunetly I didn't find this information on topic. I'm litle bit confused because according my WJ manual converter should be 19mm inside the bellhousing and I have 5mm outside. Anyway I should get abaut 4mm clearence to flexplate acc. to my measuremens. It feels than converter is fully seated, but I'm quite worried abaut it anyway.

I installed transmission today. I had few mm clearence to flex plate (look bolt hole). Should be ok (I hope) didn't have to use any force. We get snow soon here in Finland so have to get this done soon....
