Engine conversions

Hey guys. Something a bit more technical this week. If you were to (or have previously) done an engine conversion on a Jeep what would it be (or was it) and why? Diesel? V8? Turbo?
Technical advice and discussion is also welcome. Motor mounts, wiring, adaptors etc.
Discuss!

I recently started a dim at thread, But!!
Nothing, and I mean NOTHING is possible...
We put a 429 Ford into a mighty boy...

The AMC 360 is a popular conversion, but off the shelf it has less herbs than the 4.0 according to the stats :toilet:

Maybe, but it's easy to wake up a 360.

What about a Duramax Brute? Would it fit?
Any other good swaps for a TJ?
A FSJ Duramax would be awesome.
What about if someone wanted something super reliable and economic for touring and expeditions? What about max power? Best for off road work?

True Richo, but in my experience Duramax are pretty average, not too powerful, bad on fuel and have some small reliability issues.

First pick would be 3.5L ecoboost, then maybe 7.3 Powerstroke, Cummins 4BT and even 6BT all in diesel category

An engine like the duramax is WAY to heavy for a car like a TJ. Even in a car like a 100 series cruiser they change the way the car handles. You would have to spend 1000's upgrading and changing the suspension, diffs etc

A TJ isnt something id really consider a tourer or a tow'er so the benifits of a large diesel to me are kinda pointless. Maybe in a 4door JK but for the 2 doors you cant really go past the good old LS series. Alloy blocks, easy wiring, good support and very simple mods can get you well over 300kw.
