Is this a Dana 44 in front of my TJ

Hi guys, I am trying to work on my Evil rig and have hit a stop. I live in bush so making it harder to get help. I have placed 35" on the rig and it is seriously flat out doing 100 km/h let alone 110 which is speed zone. I can't find any history on vehicle. Its a 97 Sport soft top with K27 Borg Turbo added. A 6 speed manual put in from later model. I have taken pics of my front and rear diff centres with the aftermarket covers and it appears my front is identical in shape, bolt pattern to my rear making it a Dana 44..

If anyone has any info at all or opinion I am thankful to hear.

Will get pics in a hour and upload

If the housings are identical shape and size, then yes, the covers could just look the same as they could be the same manufacturer.
Google "tj diffs" and go to images. It'll take 2 minutes to confirm.

Also you might need to check your diff gearing is correct for 35's. If i remember correctly you should have 4:11 or 4:56.
Unfortunately you can't just bolt on 35's and off you go.

Your speedo would also be out, have you checked actual speed with a GPS, compared to speedo reading??

There is a calculator on here somewhere, posted by Seacomms I think, that gives diff gear to speed ratios in all gears. Try the search function on this forum. I'm on my phone so I'm not savvy enough to post the link, makes me feel really old writing that last bit

Good luck and let us know what you find.

Thanks. I have grabbed a few litres of diff oil and will try taking cover off and find what I can.

I have no idea as to why the pics are uploading and coming upside down.
