espesially is used offroad. mine has even cracked the repairs by jeep. |
Re: Steering Box Bolts Sheared Off!!! I also got the run around from jeep. There was 2 stages of repair. First stage was done under a recall in 1997. If this didn't hold there was a stage 2 mod done which involved welding in a plate thing around the chasis. My stage 2 was done at Mercedes Benz Queensland about 6 years ago. They had the contract to do the mod.
Just watch the steering box as the steering wheel is turned, if you can see the box moving then you need to have the mod done. Sent from my HTC Desire HD A9191 using Tapatalk 2 |

I put longer bokts through the steering box with lock nuts on the end
Also put a steering box brace in feels heaps to drive |

A steering brace is an investment especially if you have anything other than "road slicks" under your Jeep, most (if not all) of the aftermarket units I've seen available are designed for LHD vehicles so something home brew is the most likely option. |
Steering Box Bolts Sheared Off!!! Might be imagining things but was yankeedave considering a locally made brace?
