Hi there.
Yes there are some places in sydney to go wheeling.
What kind of wheeling do you want to do?
(ie. soft wheeling or rockcrawling.)

greigf 08-05-2006 10:59 PM

Check out the book '25 treks around Sydney', it's a cracker

Tommo 10-07-2006 12:59 PM

did you find anywhere good?

greigf 10-07-2006 06:15 PM

Abercrombie track was good. Baal Bone was even better. And Caves to Caves was good too. In fact most of them are good. Highly recommended book. I've still yet to do Hill End and the tracks down South.

There are, but you'll be hard pressed to get people to share the knowledge of them nowadays with the way trails are being closed and certain attitudes towards track usage and or going into places you shouldn't be in in the first place.

There are two very close to home and there is one I will never tell people about but there only good for a play or to test stuff out on.

DO THE BAAL BONE TRACK BACKWARDS CLIMBING UP RATHER THAN DOWN, WE WENT WITH A XJ (TUCKERBOX) AND 2 PATHFINDERS AND WERE LIFTING WHEELS EVERY FEW METRES, IF WAS HEAPS OF FUN

tuckerbox 07-02-2007 10:03 AM

Jenko 07-02-2007 02:48 PM

On the 17 of february there is going to be a KJ trip to zig zag.

ed. 07-02-2007 02:59 PM

I heard that Baal Bone Gap had been flattened out lately?

IS this a Boiling Billy Book? I have their '4WD treks close to Sydney' but it doesnt have 25 treks in it (only 15).

greigf 12-02-2007 09:40 PM

Oops, my bad.
I meant 15 (do I look like an accountant?)
And yes, it is the Boiling Billy book.

greigf 12-02-2007 09:41 PM

smorison 14-02-2007 02:35 PM

spent sunday north of wisemans ferry with a bunch of other 4wd's... heaps of nice easy tracks, good views and plenty of mud (well there was on sunday with all that rain)...

good for beginners like myself anyway

Tommo 14-02-2007 02:44 PM

Sounds nice. Where exactly? any track names / directions?

I was hoping we would get a few KJ's out on the trail, we only have 5 going at this stage. I can't see why a Jeep that want's to come along and eat some dirt cant join in the fun. :)

All the details are on the above thread, just post up or pm me so we don't leave any one behind. Don't forget the 2way.

Thanks CD, bummer it's on the saturday, i now have a commitment.
I live in Dural and have done the Zig Zag/Newnes area a few times but it would be good to maybe find other tracks. Also with a bunch of KJs.
Are the KJs modified? I have OME 80mm lift and Coopers STTs etc.
Are you guys in a KJ club?
Maybe catch you next time if that's OK.
cheers
Greigf

Greigf, I live in Hornsby Heights. Get your 1 wood out & hit a few over the gorge. I may have seen your KJ once, filling up at the Ampol (The station on Galston Rd) a while back. I know it wasn't Dorzun as I've seen his KJ, it was at night but it looked lifted & had a dark paint job.
This is just a run with people on AJOR, it's good to meet those that you have a common interest with. My KJ is black with grey uncoated splastic, a nudge bar & tow bar. I've got a 2" lift & am still running my factory tyres, the sad bit is my wife drives it 3 day's a week & i get Thur/Fri.
All the guys going on Sat have a lift (not sure about Dave), Brian & Jenko I think have a 3.5" Suburban lift.
Too bad you can't make it on Sat, I'm sure someone will organise another KJ trip in the next month or so.

sorry for the delayed response CD, been travelling a bit. I don't usually fill up at Ampol as my KJ is a diesel and I only use Shell or BP. I trust you had a great time at Zig Zag, would be interested in joining next time if that's ok.
my KJ is easily recognisable, it is all black, has 3 x IPF spotties on the black ARB bull bar, roof racks, the 80 mm lift and now Coopers STTs.
great vehicle but I'm now looking at the Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon (about $53k) so may have mine up for sale soon. Where's the best place to advertise a modified KJ in very good condition?

No problem greigf, it was a fun day out (some pics on the other thread).

Not sure mate, perhaps post up the question on the general section of AJOR or in the KJ section. One fellow has just bought a KJ in VIC & I think the link he put up was from car sales . com? (best to have a look in the KJ section). It's a new thead so it will be on the first page. Your KJ sounds nice, should be a good buy for a new Jeeper.

We should look at organising another KJ run soon, perhaps somone will organise one or we could do another ZigZag trip. :)

greigf 24-03-2007 12:58 AM

quick response CD, thanks.
I will try Carsales.com. Meantime if anyone is interested in a 2005 turbo diesel KJ, black in great nick with a bunch (about $10k) of essential mods, let me know. I don't want to sell it in some ways as it looks brand new and still turns heads but I want a Rubicon so I can get adventurous with it.
CD, are they black steel or alloy wheels on your KJ? they look great. Where did you get them from?,
cheers

If you mean the aviator pic, that was a test fit for a 15" black steel rim with 32's. It's not mine but belongs to SteveF, he was kind enough to let me try a 15" rim to see how it would fit (he run's 32's, but it did look good). I'm still running my stock alloy's & making enquires on 16x8 black steel rims. Steve's rims are 15x8 Rock Crawlers & yes they look great (you should see them on his XJ :) ). Wooders got them in from the states for Steve, which is probably the way I will get mine 8-)

You should post a pic of your rig prior to selling it.
