2.7 CRD Fuel Lines & O-Rings Anyone know if the 2.7 CRD fuel line O-rings are replaceable with generic (ie Repco) O-rings?
Are the clips at each end of the lines available in generic form or only from Jeep? Are the replaceable at all or do you have to buy the whole fuel line? I replaced the fuel filter today and in the process of bleeding air from the lines have come across a leak on the upper line on the front of the engine. Most of the clips are old brittle and broken. |
There is a post here somewhere about that same thing but I can't find it.
Anyway the fuel line part numbers are: Filter to Pump : MB A6650700532 Jeep 05080482AA possibly $50 Pump to fuel rail: MB A6120703232 Jeep K05140798AA possibly $120 I haven't got around to researching alternatives connectors yet but will have to as mine need replacing as well, should be reasonably common I think. I ran around a the few local stores that were open today and came up with absolutely nothing. In the process of removing the o-ring off the connector I destroyed it (brittle) which indicates it was probably time to replace them anyway. I'll make some phone calls tomorrow on those part numbers you listed and I'll also chase up some o-rings. The O-rings are a square section type not your usual doughnut shape. Jeep sits in the carport until then.. Keep you posted. |

Those fuel line connectors are just to dodgy to fiddle with too much I reckon. I've been going to go to a diesel engine shop to see if they have the clips or lines listed, as a normal auto shop like Auto Pro wouldn't. |
Also the o-rings need to be made from vitron rubber not nitrile which is standard for black o-rings, otherwise they swell up go spongey & leak.

OK so a bit of good news today.
I made a few phone calls to Jeep and Mercedez Benz and got some pricing on the parts drover listed above. Quote:
Filter to Pump : MB A6650700532 $40.41 + GST (o/night order) Jeep 05080482AA $44.20 + GST (o/night order) Pump to fuel rail: MB A6120703232 $120.48 + GST (see my notes below) Jeep K05140798AA $115.40 + GST (o/night order) So apparently Jeep have no listing on any serviceable parts within the hose assembly. Mercedes on the other hand, list O-rings only (clips are listed in the parts diagram but are not available in Aus and according to the guy at Merc, not available at all even if I were to order from o'seas) Now, my note as per the price above is this. The part shown in the Mercedes parts breakdown is a straight through fuel line whereas the Jeep part has a T-piece connector on it. It is actually a different part number. The Mercedes part number for the correct fuel line (which I do not have as I did not have a pen on me at the time) has no serviceable items such as o-rings or clips listed (ala Jeep). So, in a nutshell, I lucked out and found some o-rings off a replacement fuel line which is not identical to the one on the Jeep but is used in the Mercedes Benz Sprinter vans. The correct fuel line which suits the Jeep motor was quoted at ~$190+ GST. Anyway, the o-rings are slightly different in appearance however after checking the Mercedes Fuel lines to confirm, they are the currently supplied o-rings on the replacement fuel lines. The O-Ring part # is MB A06019970645 - $3.35 inc GST ea A quick check on the MB computer systems reveals that basically every MB dealership carries them (one dealer had 60 in stock). I purchased them from Central Star Auto House in Berwick, VIC who had 2 and I bought both, they are expecting more in next week. There was no way I was touching any other fuel clip after I broke a bit off the clip on my fuel filter and I used the same zip tie method.
The mechs at my workshop gave me a few to try out size wise but I'm yet to get to them, they have all sizes for the Volvo and Kenworths. I broke the stupid clips on my ZG fuel filter so just replaced the hose and used normal hose clamps, sadly won't work on the CRD Great piccies. |

Can you tell me that how manu O-rings I have to change and how that fuel line bleeder works or how I can use it? What is the tool with that bleeder and how you open it?? Here is now -15 c:? so my GC have similar props to get engine on. |
G'Day Jarrad thanks for the info, I thought I should let you know I was told by Berwick Mercedes that the O'Ring number A06019970645 that you have doesn't need the "0" after the A so it is A6019970645.
