What NOT to do with a tow ball during a recovery ... feat XJ Cherokee

I am sure that some of you have already seen this video that may have appeared in your Youtube recommended by Ronny Dahl. It is very educational and will probably save a few lives.

What I find fascinating is that Ronny uses none other than a pre-update XJ Cherokee as the (stock looking) recovery vehicle test rig.... and (I sensed) appearing to have a lot of fun in that thing due to the fact that it is virtually indestructible. Hear him rev the 4.0L motor a few times too many....More fun than he could ever have in his umm... regular vehicle. [Spoiler alert:] It took 8 attempts in the XJ to deliberately snap the tow ball from the "stuck" ute and it ultimately mangled and ripped the tow bar assembly off the ute's mounts by the end of the video. [Caution: Mannequins did get hurt.... and in my opinion, he had a very close call when the projectile entered the cabin.]

Further edit: Check out my new thread here: http://www.ausjeepoffroad.com/forum/...77#post1645777

I have posted other links to videos on this site previously that are less educational ... e.g. XJs ploughing through very heavy snow
,

... and one of my favourites is what happens on Bahr's farm (stays on Bahr's farm) ... and they appear to be breaking every rule to do with recovery. The poor ute in the video is blowing steam from its nostrils.

.

The fun never stops until the 4.0L engine eventually goes quiet 600,000 miles later .............................. before a rebuild...(except ... if it is on Bahr's farm)
