eco diesel km’s how long to keep

Well the question is a bit like how long is a bit of string!!
How kong can you reliably tow , do long trips etc km’s
wise with a well maintained eco diesel.
Mines just clocked up 180,000km’s , still running like a clock but
went and had a look at what was supposed to be a 2017 limited with 87k on the clock.
Didnt really feel any better than my 2014 limited.
What was strange was when i checked the vin number, it was built in march 2015 but registered in 2017. Effectively a 2015 spec’d car.

Mines a MY13 with 170k on the clock....hoping thats diesel lingo for....just bedded in...which in all my diesel experience is the norm.....have put 40k on it in 2yrs...up for a tranny $8k (cant blame the brand...prior/1st owner wasnt very diligent with preventative maintenance) and am fitting a Lift Kit, nudge bar n lights..another $3k...soooooo.....hoping to get another 100k out of it....am prepared to repair/replace what shytes itself...not delusional....havnt driven anything I'd prefer to own....may as well stay with what Im comfortable with....they all 'flog out' no matter what brand....by the time its in need for a change I dont think we'll have a 'good choice' to make....ev/alt power drive vehicles will be mandatory...living where I do, the current offerings are NOT feasible....maybe buy an old servo n get the underground tanks filled while real fuel is still avail n repair the old Rangie for fishing n keep the Jeep for... 'Hey !...look at that...an old man driving one of those old cars that burn fuel....disgusting'... drives....its coming

got to agree. I went drove a 2013 overland with 270,000km on it, well serviced and the engine and transmission felt good so if they are serviced properly they do seem last. That my dilemma, do sell my good condition 2014 with high km’s or buy a lower km car with unknown history.

Looked at a couple of low ks supposedly late models ,one was also a 2015. .first came across this when a neighbour bought a new GC ,the vin check was not what year the dealer had told him.! the dealer said a lot of RHD had gone into storage in the US for nearly a couple of years.! Whether true or not I dont know.! However a 2015 is not a 2017! Was this one you looked at in Newcastle?

No, im over here in Perth.
The one im looking at here is a limited with a sunroof.
The guy is advertising it as a 2017 which is when it was registered but technically its a 2015.
Its got the old shifter and radio and pretty much identical to my 2014.
Its got low km’s but not sure id pay the $ hes asking for it as a 17.

The gear box would be my worry, if only serviced at Jeeps time frame...

My 5/2015 build WK2 has a 9/2016 Compliance...first registered 24/10/2016...but it is still a 2015 model...
So like many other 2015's as one of our posters' pointed out here, in 2015 the sales fell off a cliff almost overnight and there were heaps of new WK2's laying around with no where to go.

It is also common place for lots of vehicle owners to delude themselves in to believing their car is a later model than it really is, using the Compliance Date as the model year....totally wrong of course.

I am going to keep this one as the newer models are no better in comfort and drive-ability....same running gear, just a couple of extra bits of fluff that can go wrong.
Mine currently has 119.000 k's on it, I do expect at least another 100,000 k's out of it. My previous WK2 diesel had 194,000 k's on it at it's demise and was still running like a clock...
