What Rims for 2011 JCG

Hi There,

So from other forums I have been told that the factory rims have a 56.4mm offset yielding about 6.7" backspace, I haven't found anything official. I want to keep as close to stock as possible so suspension and balance of the truck don't go out of kilt.

I am after another off-road set for my 2011 JGC to replace the 20" roadies, so went into a Mickey Thompson dealer who told me that they have nothing in Australia of his range that will suit that offset, he said the best they have is something with 30mm offset.

What does offset mean and how do I find 18" rims that fit? The dealer here said they would sell me the factory 18" rims for 900 each which seems very steep! I will go to other dealers this week and see what else I can find out.

any advice would be appreciated.

So I have done my research and also had a few tyre shops looking for me, they are able to get some rims after market which took a few days searching but at 18" there isnt any MT's, I could go for an AT set but then it would render my 20" road tyres really useless. So its MT or none :)

So I think I am going to have to drop to 17" and see if I get get some 265/65/17 KM2 Mud Terrains

Anyone got any comments on this?

17's probably won't clear your brake rotors unfortunately.

kfc, I've trial fitted an AEV Pintler to the new 2011 GC but there are a few problems.

THe brake calipers is basically going to strike the caliper, nor could you use stick on weights to balance the wheels as they'll smash on the capliers. Also the actual wheel nuts are so large they dont even fit into the AEV wheel nut recesses!!

It seems the 18" ones will be the go for this Jeep. There are some nice BFG 18" AT's available but they're around $500 a corner. I reckon the stock 18"s powdercoated black with wheel spacers and 285/70/18"s will be the go :)

I have seen a Disco 4 with 18's fitted with a set of these http://www.generaltire.com.au/tires/...ber-ATsup2-sup here in Melb. There a re a few LT 18" sizes. Very good tyre by all accounts.

I am assumed 17" because this guy in the US has 255/75/17s on his 2011 Overland.

Perhaps he got the right 17" rims and maybe we cant get them in aus? I have sent him a pm to see if he can let me know more details.

These are the closest 18" after-market rims I have found here, their offset is 40mm though, will that be ok can you recommend anything else?

If I have to go 18 AT's then BFG is the go? Coopers have some too, Do the BFG's come in 265/60/18? or do I have to go to 265/65/18?

Yep I knew Rims and Tyres were not going to be cheap in 18's but I did budget for this, in the end I want the car looked after when its offroad.

I have QL so I am not sure if that affect anything else?
