trail bike carrier

hey guys,

im about to start looking into making up a rack to hold my little trail bike on the back of the grand, want it to hang out of the towbar hitch then have the bike across the back if you know what i mean,

if anyone has one or pics of one could the chuck up a few so i can get some ideas of how others have done it

many thanks
Rob

just spoted a company called newlite makes one, http://www.newlite.com.au/Trailers_a...ulers.php#mini

i dont like the way its attached to the tow hitch though, i think its better inside the reciever?

Although not for a trail bike, I made this for my bike based on a motorbike carrier a mate of mine had on the back of his bus. Just goes straight into the receiver. As I ride my bike every day I just wanted to be able to drop it straight into the carrier and not have to do up any straps etc. It can fit the three different frame sizes I have by rotating the post 90 degrees and the post comes out to access the back of the Jeep.

that ezimotow on looks rather technical, verry cool but i couldnt put my mountain bike on it,

i fotgot to mention that i was intending to use it for both bikes, just not at the same time,

the one your using as a bike carrier you dont happent to remember if the motor bike carrier was using a top clamp like that to hold the bike or if it was strapped on?

Sorry mate, I can't remember. It had a post but can't remember how he stabilised the bike with it. My bike had to go in the back of the bus as he could only carry one on the back.

fair enough, thats alright when i get my base welded up ill toy around with a few ideas,

off topic, nice bike, i ride a 07 giant xtc 2, do youy happen to have a set of blt firewire lights on it?

hillsjeep 31-01-2008 07:03 PM

Cool!! I have that and an OCR3 for the road. They're great bikes aren't they! We have 4 Giants in our family ;)

No I just have el'cheapo lights to get me past the cops. I do nearly all of my riding during the day.

When we take them all out I use one of these carriers, they're great but bloody expensive and take a bit of time to strap them all in: http://www.thule.com.au/show_content...____44324.aspx
