Rotors and pads recommendations Any recommendations on good pads and rotors for towing? I have seen in some eamrlier threads that Akebono pads got a mention by Doc, has anyone else used these and if so which ones?
Would be helpful if anyone could post up prices and where they got them from as well Thanks"........Dave |
Highest hot and cold co-efficient pad you can buy, higher friction will cause an increase in rotor wear which translates to braking performance but tyres are your limiting factor.
DBA slotted rotors QFM HPX pads If your trailer isn't braked then I would be spending that money on converting the trailer. It will be the best bang for your buck option. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk |
When I had a WH CRD the best "bang for the buck" was using RDA slotted & dimpled rotors and Akebono Pro Act pads.
Pad numbers are; ACT 1080 & ACT 1087. These pads are a ultra premium ceramic low dust - long lasting with minimal rotor wear. Cheers |
Last set I installed about 6 months ago for towing 2800kg.
dimple and slotted discs and extreme pads for the rear $280.00 Who really knows if they any better than others and standard, but for a extra $100.00 why not! http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/DIMPLED-S...78ea007&_uhb=1 Trailer electric drum brakes makes a huge difference with the proper controller. |
I fitted DBA 42530XS front rotors & EBC UD1080 pads & Power Stop S4990 Brake Caliper
http://www.ausjeepoffroad.com/forum/...35087be3a0.jpg I was going to use EBC Yellowstuff DP41732R pads but couldn't get them locally. I see they now have a new EXTRA DUTY TRUCK PADS ED91732. This page has a few reviews on them http://www.autoanything.com/brakes/e...uty-brake-pads Pad guide https://perfectbrakes.com/automotive...-2010/19004030 |
Cheers for the replies, I have a Redarc Tow Pro brake controller and the camper has electric drum brakes
As the pads are getting low and the rotors are also badly worn I was planning on replacing them, just wondering what others first hand experience has been with some of the aftermarket stuff. The RDA rotors are pretty cheap on eBay but I have never used them and was concerned about quality, if others have used them successfully that is good info for me. |
When mine are up, I'm probably going RDA slotted rotors and QFM pads. Although those new EBC pads read up alright. I spent $600 odd bucks on DBA 4000 slotted rotors and Bendix 4wd pads on my last Hilux and couldn't tell the difference.
