CJ3B: Restoration Hi guys,
Just wanted to quickly introduce myself and my Willys CJ3B. I come from Perth own an Isuzu Mu 2.8TD and love 4wding, I also own a Royal Enfield 1953 and love the "old skool" look and the interesting characters it attracts. So I combined 4wding with old skool and bought my CJ3B:) http://www.thewillysworkshop.com/Images/Untitled-1.jpg She has been in the shed for a couple of months and last weekend I finally started the full resto on it. I'll tear down completely and do a full build up again. In case anybody is interested my website is http://www.TheWillysWorkshop.com. If your in Perth shoot me a text and come and have a look! If you are doing the same thing would love to have a chat if your arround Perth. Day 1 and day 2 went well and I am almost ready to pull the body off! http://www.thewillysworkshop.com/Images/IMG_0418.jpg And http://www.thewillysworkshop.com/Images/IMG_0413.jpg Will keep you guys posted on progress, and might come up with some questions every now and then! Great work on the website guys! |

PLan is to fully restore her but with some subtle changes to make her more reliable and dependable. We are planning a big round Australia trip (including the Canning Stock Route :)) so mods I have planned are: - Full rewiring including 12V, provisions for a small winch(hopefully detachable or something), some LED spots (detachable too), provisons for a 2nd battery setup in a trailer. Maybe some Marine carpet. But thats basically it. Ah I have been thinking about a canvas roof with mesh side walls, breezy but protected, thats just a thought. Did you retsore your, any lessons learned? |

No, mine is in kind of in hibernation at the moment.
Purchased her almost as she is with a Holden 202 under the hood and I've been doing the odd jobs that need doing to get her back to a registrable condition. Mostly gaskets, lighting, oil leaks, uni joints etc. Mine will not be another Military Olive Drab clone ;) |
Looking good, nice tyres:) Mine wont be too, alltough she was in the Korean war. I just plan on making it a good car, mainly used for travelling, touring and 4wding. Ah well, back to the shed I go :)

Looks fairly straight with mainly just surface rust so it should be a real good un !

Should be a good project to follow. Look forward to the updates.
