XJ drawer unit & fridge slide

Hi guys I have started to get together some materials to build my drawer and fridge slide unit. My budget is $130, hopefully this can be done.

So far I have bought used 19mm ply $10, bog $21, fridge runners $19, handle $2 glue $11 and screws $5. Not bad considering I now only need a few other things like timber, should be around $25 and the carpet stuff should be $15 and three set of drawer runners $10 for all three, paint $12.

So far it is sitting at $68. I reckon I could have squeezed it in the $100 or less mod but I have opted to by larger quantities of consumables.

Here is the ply I picked up for $10 he wanted $15 but I said "give ya $10".

The drawer runners pics are in another thread but I have added the link so people can see my you buet $19 set. Sure beats the Ebay $90 or there abouts.

Base is cut and the sides are cut too. If you remember Steve's I have copied his design curving it around the moulding that the tails gate butts up to. I will post some more pics later in the week as it progresses a little more.

Here is the latest progression. It has a top & bottom and the sides are cut to later screw the drawer runners to. The current fridge is will be going as it is only a cheap thermolectic one and I have another Waeco on layby.

She progress'. I have the slide made, just need to attach the runners. The framework for the drawers are made. The top is finished. I need to make the drawers which may happen later this week; although I forgot to measure on my caravan ones, the gap I need for the runners. Damn now I will need to make another hour round trip to do that. I reckon in about three weeks I will be finished, mainly because the felt/carpet is quite expensive. The top is secured with velcro, which means I can take it out to access the spare.

here is another pic.

Just fitted the slide runners and all an all pretty good. Only slight problem is with the push lock-unlock mechanism it will not be strong enough to retain a fridge on rough roads. However all that means is I will be left to the more traditional method of using a slide bolt.
