Oh For The Love Of...

:wall::wall: so cruising home in my XJ not even looking at the gauges,
coming down the new england into rutherford, I am the only car on the road, two headlights popped over the hill (far) behind me, then the red and blue came crashing in on my parade, 80 in a 100 zone, and the government decided it was $243 richer, I passed bricks for the next 15 minutes and drove 10 under the way home, arrrgh, :wall::wall::wall::wall::wall:
I know I was speeding, but that was unessecary. does anyone feel like pasing on some sympathy, or a story to make me feel... a little better :(
thanks folks :%

haha oops, yearp, 100 in an 80 zone, and the only car on the road.

Sorry to hear about your XJ, I'd drill the ends of the crack, weld it up, patch, then weld again ;)
Best of luck, keep on Jeepin buddy

I got done on the way to Bathurst many years ago. Was just approaching the bottom of a long hill at 8am with not another vehicle seen in ages and a cop comes over the hill in front of me and lights go on before he could of even known how fast I was going.

All of 12km/hr over the limit at the bottom of the loooong downhill run in the middle of no where (whilst on cruise control in a VL commodore). He actually apologised for having to book me, said there was a bus accident up ahead a few hours ago and his boss wanted everything moving booked for whatever they could get away with to make it look to the locals and media like they were doing something....

Yes I know I was speeding - first and only speeding fine in 30 years. Oh and in case you think I dont drive anywhere, my 3 year old company car is now at 107,000km, 2 year old Jeep is at 50,000km, Subaru Forester I sold to buy Jeep had 348,000km on it, and then there's my bike for when I feel like something different!

So yes, I do get around :)

No, you weren't speeding. Speeding is, by the descriptions of the police & traffic authorities, dangerous, deadly etc. You may have been travelling in excess of the posted speed limit, but you weren't speeding.

I've been there & done that, however. I once was slowing for a red light in the left lane. Bus was stopped in the right and there was a car parked on the other side of the intersection that I didn't see until I was already in the left lane beside the bus. The light went green before I came to a stop, so I accelerated & changed lanes to get in front of the bus and then was slowing to the limit. Police car was on the other side of the parked car...

I got done last Easter, double demerits, on the f3 right at the north end where it goes from 110kph to 80kph. I was 200m into the 80 zone and got done for 103kph, oh course I was just letting the car slow down from 110klm, wasn't going to hit the brakes with traffic behind me to dead on 80.
The good part.....I hadn't had a ticket for 10years, wrote to state debt recovery, got reduced to a caution!! :p
Wife got done the following week, 47kph in a school zone, clean driving record, but not reduced to caution cause it was a school zone, only weeks later that speed camera was supposed to be shut down. (not sure if it's still operational, it the bateau bay camera outside the entrance high school, on the central coast)

Chin up dustbowl at least the weather is getting better if nothing else...;)

Went to renew my licence the other day. When asked how long I wanted to renew for, I said 5 years. The wonderful counter person said, "did you know that there is a discount if you have gone for 5 years without a ticket?"

I told her that I thought that would be a good goal. She told me that I actually qualified now. WooHoo.....$80something for 5 years.........

I have NEVER gone for 5 years without a ticket before, (I'm 62 next week).

There is definitely a benefit going from Porsche to Jeep......
