Malfunction Indicator Light on and Rough Idle

Have a 2007 Cherokee Sport 3.7L . Had it all detailed, super clean even under the bonnet after a long trip. About a week after the jeep is now idling very rough and the Malfunction indicator light is on. Hubby took to local garage, new area just moved. They plugged a handheld into it and said it read cylinder 6 misfired. They advised putting an injector cleaner in. Did that still running rough and light flashing.

Any ideas??? Are we better off taking to the local Jeep Dealer, do there computers pick up more?

Car hasnt missed a beat till now :(

Love my Jeep!!!

By the sounds of it, you have gotten what into and around the spark plug/Coil Pack, for the number 6 cylinder. Whip the plugs out and take the leads of everything and let it sit in the sun with bonnet open for a while. Have a look for scorch marks on the ceramic insulator on the spark plug. Probably best to change the plugs whilst your at it, and if there is serious scorching on the plug, you will be best to change the leads as well. If that doesn't fix it you are possibly looking at a new coil for Number 6 Cylinder.

If thats not it. Hopefully someone else will be able to chime in with some Suggestions
