Thinking of buying WH CRD, what to look for???

Howdy all,
Work has got a bit tight and I no longer have free access to cars :(
This means I either have to:
A) drive the Patrol to work and back everyday (around 120km's)
B) lease a car from work which will offset fuel costs of the Patrol
C) sell the Patrol and buy a WH
Predicting everyone's answer I'd like to know a few things about WH's...
Do they all have Quadra-Drive II?
I seem to remember that they used to have ELSD's in front and rear, but then deleted the front. Is that true? If so, when did they do this?
Was there any major upgrades? When did they change head unit's?

WH's will either have QT2 (open diffs with traction control) or QD2 (front and rear ELSD's which can achieve 100% lock in low range and stay locked until disengaged). They never deleted the front ELSD's, that only happened with the WK2's.

There was an upgrade in 2008 which included 2 tone interior, head units, front bumper, dash color, engine refinements... (can't think of anything else).

They are a great and capable vehicle, if fuel is an issue, go for CRD, they're pretty fast and faster low end than the V8. They're quite low in clearance so you'll need to raise it up a bit if you're intending to go offroad with it. With QD2 you'll surprise many toyomitsunissan drivers, mine does every time I go offroad.

Thanks, good info! I definitely want the CRD, my Patrol isn't bad on fuel but I want better.
I don't expect it to be as good off-road as the Patrol but I figure with a lift and tyres it should get me where I want. What tyre size will they fit with a ~2" lift?

Hi Bear TJ, I have only just purchased a WH Grand CRD and asked similar questions to yours.
Have a look at the thread I started entitled 'Friendly Advice'

Cheers, Craig

I'm running 265/70/17 MT's and previously I had 275/65/17 AT's with Commander rims for 7mm less offset to clear the suspension bolt and no rubbing. These are only for offroad and I'm running stock size Cooper ATR's on stock rims for everyday driving.

Most of your questions could be answered here ;)

You will be surprised where a WH Grand will go :D

Cheers, I searched around but couldn't find some of the info I was after. (Maybe because I was looking for something on the deleted front ELSD)
I've had a couple of Jeeps and been on a couple of MJOC trips so I know they are quite a capable vehicle but I won't be expecting it to perform as we'll as something with 33's and solid axles.
