JK CRD error code P0087

G'day everyone,

Jeep was driving fine when the engine light came on. Jeep still drives fine. Got error code P0087 from my ODBII reader. We filled up with Caltex a few days ago, after using BP regularly.

Code P0087
The Engine Control Module (ECM) has determined that the fuel rail pressure is too low for a specific engine RPM

Possible causes:

- Faulty fuel pump
- Blocked fuel filter
- Faulty fuel pressure sensor
- Fuel pressure sensor harness is open or shorted
- Fuel pressure sensor electrical circuit poor connection
- Faulty Fuel injector

I flushed the fuel filter this afternoon (Huge pain in the arse job to do), but no change. Thanks Studebaker for the post:

The bolts were so stuck and hard to loosen that I think that there is no way that the Jeep garage that serviced the car changed of flushed this filter in 63K kilometers.

Do you guys think I should change the fuel filter? Any other suggestions will be welcome.

Thanks
Bernard

I change my filter ever 20k, even that is a bit long imo.

Thanks Midnight for the reply,

The problem seems to be sorted now, I removed the error code with my ODBII device and Torque app. The engine light went off and it seems like the filter flush solved the problem for now. I plan on replacing the filter soon.

Cheers

My JK crd unlimited auto did the exact thing, cruising along doing 100km/h, engine light poo87 low fuel rail pressure error code. Went into Limp Mode.
After switching car off and on again my jeep drove perfectly normal. After maybe 3 or 4 restarts the engine light went off and all was fine.. Until ANY full throttle acceleration, straight into limp mode with poo87 error code.
This was with a new fuel filter, and several tanks of premium diesel.
Is the fuel rail pressure sensor replaceable?
For the 2.8crd, which sensor part number is it?
Thanks in advance
